Acupuncture in El Dorado Hills

Natural Support for Stress, Pain, Sleep, Digestion & Whole-Body Balance

Acupuncture is a whole-body approach to care that can support concerns like pain, stress, sleep, digestion and women’s health while helping you feel more balanced overall.

I'm Adina Robinson, LAc., Dipl. OM. I've been practicing acupuncture for 20 years, combining Traditional Chinese Medicine with personalized, whole-person care.

No two treatments are exactly the same. Your acupuncture is based on what you're experiencing, your individual TCM patterns and what your body needs that day.

What Is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a key part of Traditional Chinese Medicine that uses very thin, sterile needles placed at specific points on the body. Treatment is personalized based on your symptoms, health history and individual TCM patterns.

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, acupuncture is used to support the healthy movement of Qi and Blood and restore balance within the body. Modern research has also explored acupuncture's effects on the nervous system, pain pathways and other physiological processes.

In my practice, I bring both perspectives together. I use Traditional Chinese Medicine to understand the whole picture while tailoring each treatment to what you're experiencing and what you need that day.

What Can Acupuncture Help With?

People come to acupuncture for many different reasons. In my practice, I most often work with concerns related to:

Pain + Tension
Neck and shoulder pain, back pain, headaches, muscle tension and other everyday aches and pains.

Stress + Sleep
Stress, feeling overwhelmed, difficulty relaxing, trouble falling or staying asleep and waking without feeling rested.

Women’s Health
Support through the different seasons of women’s health, including menstrual changes, fertility, pregnancy support, perimenopause and menopause.

Digestion + Whole-Body Wellness
Digestive concerns, low energy and those times when you simply don't feel quite like yourself.

Every treatment is individualized. We’ll look at what’s bothering you, but we’ll also look at the bigger picture—your sleep, stress, digestion, energy and the TCM patterns connecting it all.

What Makes My Acupuncture Treatments Different?

After 20 years of practicing acupuncture, I've learned that no two people—and no two treatment days—are exactly alike.

I don't follow the same protocol for everyone. Each visit begins with a check-in about what's happening now: how you're feeling, what's changed and what your body may need that day. Your treatment is then tailored to your individual TCM patterns and goals.

Depending on your needs, your session may include:

  • Traditional acupuncture
  • Electroacupuncture
  • Cupping
  • Moxibustion
  • Aromapoint therapy
  • Tuning forks and vibrational therapy
  • LED light therapy
  • BioMat support

Some days your treatment may focus more specifically on pain or a particular concern. Other days we may need to step back and support stress, sleep, digestion or overall balance.

The tools may change from visit to visit, but the approach stays the same: personalized care that looks at the whole you.

Acupuncture Care That Fits Your Needs

Individual Acupuncture Visits

Individual acupuncture appointments are available for both new and returning patients. Each treatment is personalized based on what you're experiencing that day and may include acupuncture, cupping, electroacupuncture, moxibustion or other supportive therapies when appropriate.

Individual visits are a good option if you're new to my practice, have a specific concern you'd like to address or prefer to schedule acupuncture as needed.

Frequently asked questions

What should I expect at my first acupuncture appointment?

Your first visit includes time to talk about what brought you in, your health history and the bigger picture—including things like sleep, stress, digestion and energy. From there, I’ll create a personalized acupuncture treatment based on your individual needs and TCM patterns.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most people are surprised by how gentle acupuncture feels. The needles are extremely thin, and you may occasionally feel a quick pinch, tingling, heaviness or other sensation when a needle is placed. Once the needles are in, most patients find the treatment very relaxing.

How many acupuncture treatments will I need?

It depends on what we're treating, how long you've been experiencing it and how your body responds. Some concerns may respond relatively quickly, while chronic or ongoing issues typically benefit from more consistent care. We'll talk about a treatment plan that makes sense for you rather than using the same schedule for everyone.

What should I wear to an acupuncture appointment?

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing whenever possible. I often need access to areas around the knees, lower legs, arms or abdomen depending on your treatment. Draping is available when needed, so don't worry if you're coming straight from work or aren't dressed specifically for acupuncture.
